Orange session #3: Don Miller Story Hour

Don Miller talked about leadership through stories of people he knows and follows. For the most part, they were people not on any national scene (except Rick McKinley

Don Miller is a walking narrative with insights along the way.

Here's a few of his insights:

  • Involve people in the journey. Ownership of the journey is so important. If you take someone on a walk, allow them to explore with you.
  • Make a list of people who matter to you. Connect. Make time. Pick and choose.
  • THINK BIG. DREAM BIG.
  • Be ambitious.
  • If church is like a parade, then no one should be allowed to watch it. You have to take part. You must join in or go home. (He told a great story that related to this point.)
  • A leader speaks something into the nothing.
  • Dramatic change can take place by small groups of people.
There you go. There is an hour worth of stories that are wound throughout these insights.

He reminds me of a young professor that knows his stuff, has great stories, and is almost impossible to take notes from. All in all...love hearing him speak live.

What a great way to put it! I love Don and while this was probably his most random and quirky talk I've ever heard him give I just love what he brings and says! Incredible things and truth and thought mixed with statements half muttered under his breath like, "I feel like Robin Williams on speed!" HA.

Wow. You & Don just wrote the bulk of my message for tonight. We're on Part 3 of The Journey, and I'm talking about connecting with others. Good stuff...AND THANK YOU! :)
